Busy week one for absentee voting

The halls of government often empty out before official quitting time on a Friday afternoon.  Not the case Friday at the Oconee County Pine Street office complex, where absentee voting ahead of the November election continued at a lively pace.  The opening week of absentee voting suggests to Joy Scharich, the elections director, that Oconeeans are motivated to cast their ballots and have them count November 8.  But there is question of whether they will properly reflect the voters’ true wishes.  About the potential for outside interference thru computer hacking, she said, “Not worried but working diligently and realizing there is a concern there.”
