By law, still too early for campaign signs in Walhalla

Walhalla regulates when and where political campaign signs are placed. And James Ashton told us today Walhalla’s ordinance falls in line with other such ordinances across the country. The city’s zoning administrator/code enforcement officer today read from the applicable sections of Walhalla’s sign law, amended four years ago: “Such signs for election candidates or ballot propositions shall be displayed on public rights-of-way only for a period of fourteen (14) days preceding the election and shall be removed by sundown the day following the election, provided that signs promoting successful candidates or ballot propositions in a primary election may remain until the run-off election.” In the matter of the November 4 General Election, Ashton says, the legal start date for campaign signs in Walhalla is Wednesday, October 22.
