Cain succeeds McCall

Paul Cain succeeds Wayne McCall as chairman of the Oconee County Council.  Cain, the young Senea lawyer, was elected by acclamation in place of McCall, who chose not to offer for re-election.  Cain also ascended to the chairmanship of the council’s budget and finance committee, although last year’s chairwoman, Edda Cammick, voted against Cain.  The council was more divided on who should serve as vice-chairman.  The responsibility went to McCall, who was approved on a vote of 3 to 2.  Councilmen Reg Dexter and Joel Thrift voted against McCall as vice chairman.  Without opposition, Cammick was chosen chairman pro-tem.
