Cammick vote foretells change ahead

One of the biggest smiles at Pine Street last night belonged to a candidate who was unopposed on the ballot. Taking 94.5% of the vote in her district, Edda Cammick becomes councilwoman-elect and is set for office January 1. The remainder went to write-ins. And, when she takes office, observers are expecting a sea change in the board that sets Oconee County policy. Cammick told 96.3/WGOG NEWS that, during the campaign, she perceived that the rural communities had lost their voice in county government and she’s determined to help restore it.
