Campaign to Prevent Teen Pregnancy grateful to lawmakers

Three South Carolina state lawmakers, two of them from Oconee and Pickens, are receiving recognition from the omstate Campaign to Prevent Teenage Pregnancy. During a legislative day at the statehouse, Representative B-R Skelton of Pickens County will receive the Lifetime Achievement Award to recognize his promotion of the health and well-being of SC teenagers. The campaign also will recognize Senator Thomas Alexander of Oconee-Pickens and Representative Jenny Horne of Charleston-Dorchester as Legislators of the Year for their dedication and support to prevent teen pregnancy in the state. Since its start 20 years ago, the statewide campaign has seen a 47% decrease in the state’s teen birth rate.
