Can “Little ‘Ol Clemson” withstand the national focus?

Cash registers at Clemson businesses have rung all year during the dream season the university football team. And the question arises whether the team’s success, an improved business climate, and the building boom underway will bring more people and more cars to a traditional small university town.  So much building there that you can now sit on the 93 bridge over 28/76 and see Tillman Hall in the distance.  It has prompted some long timers to ask if they’ve lost the Clemson they grew up with.  Traffic backups on nearby 123 are common pretty much year-round—not just on football Saturdays.  Mayor J-C Cook says he thinks part of the traffic solution would be clearance from the railroad to replace the bridge above 93 near the 123 traffic lights.
