Candidate fields are set

In Walhalla and Westminster, identical numbers of city residents are seeking city council seats in November. The candidate fields were set today with the close of filing. For three Westminster seats, there are six candidates. They are incumbents Reid Adams and Rusty Cater. Challengers are Bill Brockington, Yousef Mefleh, Susan Ramey, and Doug Williams. Walhalla also has six candidates for three, four-year terms on its city council. They are incumbents Jennifer Woodward Crawford and Josh Holliday. Joining them are Frances Guldner Devoe, Chris Grant, Kathy Rogers, and Duane Wilson. Walhalla also seeks to fill the unexpired term of a councilman who resigned. For that seat there’s one candidate, Danny Woodward. City Administrator Nancy Goehle says because Danny Woodward is unopposed November 5, he’ll go into office automatically and his name won’t appear on this fall’s ballot.
