Candidates throw some jabs

The men competing to be the next chief criminal prosecutor in Oconee and Anderson are bidding for a job that offers an entry level salary of $137 thousand a year.  Last night in Walhalla one issue is whether it’s a good thing for two of the candidates to have quit their jobs to run for the office.  Wilson Burr said he quit his public defender job to wage his campaign for solicitor.  Rame Campbell also said he has quit his job as a deputy prosecutor in the Anderson office of the circuit solicitor to run.  David Wagner says he continues to work as the deputy solicitor in Oconee and makes no apology for it.  The issue was a testy one for the three men as they made their final comments last night to an audience of about 45 people at the Walhalla Civic Auditorium.
