Car chase ends in wreck near Walhalla Middle School

A Saturday afternoon car chase ended in a wreck on Walhalla’s Razorback Lane and the arrest of one of two people in the car.  The Oconee Sheriff’s Office today announced multiple charges against Thomasville, North Carolina resident Richard Clayton Bagwell II.  A second person in the car, a passenger, was not found, but the Sheriff’s Office said the passenger wore a red shirt and a white hat. With a description of a red box style car reported seen at a Lake Jocassee Road burglary, deputies spotted a vehicle on highway 11. That led to Walhalla’s Razorback Lane and the wreck of the suspect car. A foot chase led to the apprehension of the 25-year old Bagwell and the following charge: second degree burglary.  Bagwell also was issued traffic tickets for failure to stop for a blue light, no South Carolina’s driver license and improper display of a tag.  Deputies who processed the burglary scene on Lake Jocassee Road found the illegal entry was made by kicking in a window.
