Carjacking suspect arrested

Oconee sheriff’s officers last week deployed stop sticks last week in an attempt to capture a carjacking suspect. According to the Sheriff’s Office, the car driver drove over the stop sticks on South Carolina 183/the Walhalla-Westminster Highway and came to a halt within a football field length of the stop sticks. An arrest was made without incident. The Sheriff’s Office announced charges of carjacking, malicious injury to personal property and failure to stop for a blue light against Timothy Ryan Long Sr. of Forest Hill Drive, Westminster. At first Thursday, deputies were sent to an address on the Pickens Road to investigate an assault complaint.
