Case alleging murder set for trial

The prosecutor’s office plans to call to trial next week the charge of murder and other alleged offenses against a young Seneca area man.  Atop the docket for Oconee General Sessions Court is South Carolina versus James William Toward.  He’s one of two persons arrested in the investigation of the shooting death of Robert Andrew Johnson in 2014 on Ames Street, Utica.  In March this year co-defendant Donte Robert Bacon entered guilty pleas that potentially subject Bacon to prison for the rest of his life.  But, at the request of Deputy Solicitor David Wagner, Bacon’s sentencing has been delayed until Toward’s trial is held.
