Casto makes deal official
The real estate company Casto has made official its purchase of most of the property owned by New Spring Church in Oconee County. A deed recorded last week at the Oconee Register of Deeds shows Casto Oconee LLC paid $6.3 million to New Spring for about 40 acres near the 123-93 area. The church retains 17 acres for what a spokeswoman says will be the construction of its permanent Clemson campus. Richard Blackwell of Oconee Economic Alliance sees the latest transaction as a sign that a large retail-restaurant complex is ahead, including what is speculated to be a multi-screen movie theatre.
