Sunday morning fire near Walhalla

A fire late yesterday morning in the Five Forks Community between Walhalla and Westminster displaced four people, and it’s a fire under investigation, according to the Walhalla Fire Department.  Walhalla fire fighters were among those responding to the mobile home fire on Brooksmore Road, Five Forks community.  They were alerted to the fire at 10:30 am.

Credit given to Walhalla policeman Tim Rice

The honor of Oconee Municipal Public Safety Officer of the Year belongs to Tim Rice of the Walhalla Police Department.  So awarded was Capt. Rice for a number of accomplishments. Since joining the department in 2019, Rice helped update the record system, investigated and resolved numerous cases.  He’s considered an important part of the department leadership.
