The police in Walhalla remind motorists about the laws covering children riding in motor vehicles.  Children eight and under must be secured, and the police say drivers should be familiar with the rules covering seatbelts, booster seats, rear-facing car seats, and forward-facing car seats.

New cases of COVID-19 on today’s report from South Carolina DHEC:  779, including 18 in Oconee County.  Statewide, eight people have been added to the state’s virus death toll.  Of 23, 892 test results received, the positivity was 4.6%.

As the United States approaches the 500,000 mark for deaths from COVID-19, the latest number from South Carolina DHEC is that there have been 120 deaths in Oconee County so far from the virus.
