McKenzie Clark tallied a two-run homer to walk off Minnesota, 3-1, in the second game of the doubleheader to give the No. 10/11 Clemson Tigers a split decision against the Minnesota Golden Gophers on Thursday evening to open the Tiger Invitational. Clemson (14-6) dropped the opening game, 5-3, in extras to Minnesota (11-9), before ending the evening with a victory.

Field general LeCroy returns to the Upstate

Walhalla baseball export Bradley LeCroy returns to Greenville this weekend with his Virginia Commonwealth winning baseball team.  The Rams are entered in an invitational tournament at Fluor Field and are scheduled to play opponents from Michigan universities.  At Walhalla High, LeCroy was a star three-sport athlete and later played collegiately and coached at Clemson.

The mat men of West-Oak High School

Thirty-three boys comprise this year’s state wrestling championship team of West-Oak High School.  State titles are nothing new to Warrior wrestlers.  Since 1994, West-Oak teams have won eight state titles.  Their latest was this year, a 3-A title.  Head coach is Derek Strobel.  Last night the Warrior wrestlers were recognized by the Oconee County Council.
