CATV truck hits tree, then house

July 18, 2013

A Northland cable television truck driver was left shaken when his truck rolled down a Walhalla hill this morning and struck a house. The Ford F-150 had just been pulled from a muddy surface when it began to roll and get away. Lt. Paul Harris of the Walhalla Police say the driver, Elton Parker, ran to try to take control of his vehicle, but was thrown off it when it hit a tree and then rolled into the side of 309 Jaynes Street. The house there is for sale, and no one was home. The police estimate $3 thousand damage to the CATV truck; two thousand dollars’ damage to the house, including a dislodged window air-condition unit. The accident was reported shortly before 10:15.
