CDV suspect in custody

A 43-year old man surrendered to Oconee deputies last night and a barricade situation at a home near Walhalla ended peacefully at 8:41 p-m. Once, Timothy Scott Blackwell was in custody, authorities re-opened a closed section of SC 183, the Walhalla-Pickens Highway, between Fowler Road and Freedom Drive. Deputies went to Blackwell’s home at 103 Fairfield Road around 2:45 yesterday afternoon in response to a domestic call. But deputies say Blackwell ran into a home and barricaded himself. According to an announcement by the Sheriff’s Department, its SWAT unit followed normal procedures to resolve the situation and negotiators talked with Blackwell before he surrendered. OMC paramedics examined Blackwell and once the suspect was deemed to be fine, he was taken to the Oconee Detention Center. This morning’s booking report shows Blackwell has been charged with criminal domestic violence second offense. According to Sheriff’s Department spokesman Jimmy Watt, more charges are possible.
