Charge against defendant to be reduced

Oconee sheriff Mike Crenshaw says he expects an announcement today from the office of Circuit Solicitor Chrissy Adams on the new developments in the death of Alana Carpenter. The body of the 27-year old Seneca woman was found last month in the Walhalla home of her boyfriend, Caleb Nathaniel Linart. He was arrested and charged with murder after an autopsy that disclosed manual strangulation as the cause of death. But Crenshaw says the charge will now be changed to attempted murder and the focus of the continuing investigation in the case will be how and why drugs were in Carpenter’s system. According to Crenshaw, preliminary toxicology lab results indicate a high level of drugs.
