Charges upgraded

The Pickens County Grand Jury has upgraded charges against a North Carolina man, one of three people charged in the 2013 vandalism of Howard’s Rock at Clemson University. An announcement from Walt Wilkins, circuit solicitor for Greenville and Pickens counties, states 20-year old Micah Rogers was formally charged with grand larceny and malicious injury to property. He is accused on June 2, 2013 of damaging and carrying away part of Howard’s Rock. Wilkins says these are higher charges than the original charges and carry a potential of 10 years in prison. The defendant remains free on bond and no trial date has been set.
