Charter school to expand to Salem

A new type of school is headed to the small Oconee town of Salem.  A representative of the Next High School at Greenville contacted reporters late yesterday afternoon to say that the Greenville-based charter school is in the process of acquiring state approval to expand to Salem—where town officials are rolling out a welcome mat.  The plan is to occupy the Tamassee-Salem Middle/High School campus once the county public school district closes the doors there in June.  Joe Greenberg, a representative of the Next High School, says starting today he’s going to become a familiar face in Salem, getting ready to open the charter school there in the fall.  Greenberg says he’ll also announce details for a second public meeting for Salem residents and others interested in enrolling students in the charter school.
