Chase ends at suspect’s home

Near Tamassee early today, a fast acceleration from a stopped position on Little River Road and an eventual quick turn onto Whitmire Church Road raised the suspicions of an Oconee County sheriff’s deputy. The chase that ensued wound up near highway 11 and the arrest of a driver. Sheriff’s spokesman Jimmy Watt says the following traffic tickets were issued to Christopher Damien Scroggs, 23 years old: driving under the influence second offense; driving under suspension first offense; failure to stop for a blue light; open container in a vehicle; and simple possession of marijuana. The Sheriff’s Office added a warrant charge of possession of a controlled substance.  Stop sticks caused the tires on the Chevy Malibu to deflate and Scroggs was place into custody after he pulled into his home at 131 Dusty Lane near highway 11.
