Chris Carter to succeed Jeff Lord

After a brief private meeting, the Westminster City Council voted 7-0 to appoint Georgetown’s Chris Carter as its next city administrator.  Mayor Brian Ramey said Carter stood out among the 19 applicants to succeed Jeff Lord.  Carter’s connections to the Upstate, which include relatives in Clemson and previous work experience in the North Carolina mountains, attracted him to the Westminster position, according to the mayor.  Carter is to start work July 11 with a three-year contract that will pay him $90 thousand a year.  In the same special meeting where he was named the administrator, Carter was assigned the additional duty as Westminster’s voting member on the board of the PMPA—the city’s wholesale electric power supplier.
