City planner touted for Walhalla

With this year’s election in the rearview mirror, one Walhalla leader says it’s time to carry out campaign promises.  Re-elected Councilman Tjay Bagwell urged his colleagues last night to consider the hiring of a city planner whose job would be to carry out recommendations in the newly completed city master plan.  He would also like to see the planner take on the roll of an events coordinator who would work closely with the chamber of commerce.  At Bagwell’s request, Partners for Progress President Dan Pollock said by setting up a community development corporation the city could hire a planner who would work fewer than 40 hours a week and not require the benefits of a full-time employee.
