A civil trial alleging medical malpractice has entered a second day in the Oconee Common Pleas Court in Walhalla. The plaintiff in the case is Elvis Pressley, as personal representative of the estate of his daughter, Cassie Sweenor. Defendants are Dr. Frank Rao and Upstate ENT Associates. For the plaintiff’s side, Pressley completed his testimony this morning—during which a video was shown of Sweenor as a hospital patient shortly before her death in 2009. The jury yesterday heard testimony that Sweenor, a surgery patient of Dr. Rao’s, took a medical helicopter flight that diverted to Columbia where she spent three weeks as a hospital patient there before dying in a hospice house.
