Cleanup crew removes meth materials near Seneca

A state cleanup crew removed meth-making materials and equipment Tuesday from an arrest scene near Seneca. South of Seneca on the Argo Road, according to the Oconee Sheriff’s Office, narcotics agents arrested and jailed Jerry Scott Gibson on charges of drug conspiracy and a temporary custody order. A warrant obtained yesterday by narcotics agents charges the 45-year old Gibson with manufacturing meth. Officers November 17 began an investigation into attempted purchases of Pseudo ephedrine beyond the legal limit by Gibson in the month of October. Pseudo ephedrine is a drug commonly used in the making of methamphetamine. By law, individuals may purchase nine grams during a 30-day period. Gibson made legal purchases during October of about 7.5 grams, but according to the Sheriff’s Office, he tried to buy a total of around 11 grams in the same month that pharmacies blocked.
