Clemson approves fee increases

Tuition, housing and the cost for meal plans are going up at Clemson University. By action of the trustees yesterday, the increases are to average in the vicinity of three percent. In-state students will see an increase of $171 dollars a semester—and pay a $25 charge dedicated to facilities maintenance and renovation. Non-state residents will pay $432 dollars more a semester and a facilities fee of $55 dollars. The fee increase will help bring in about $11 million to cover anticipated increases from a state-mandated pay raise for faculty and staff, increased employee retirement expenses and increased health insurance costs mandated by the Affordable Care Act. Student housing and meal plans will be increased by an average of 2.3%.
