Clemson car break-ins spread

Thieves are striking at parked cars again in Clemson. The latest rash of car break-ins occurred last night in the Berkeley Drive and the Country Walk subdivisions. Some of the vehicles victimized were left unlocked. The thieves broke windows in others. According to a citizen’s alert from the Clemson Police Department, this type of activity occurred a couple of months ago in another part of the city and the police were able to arrest two people. But it’s apparent there are other groups either walking or driving around during late night/early mornings looking for items to steal. The police say they are working diligently to find those responsible. Meantime, Clemson residents are asked to ensure nothing is left of value within plain sight left within their vehicles or outside homes left unsecured. “We are not asking our residents to take matters into their own hands; call the Police Department and allow us to determine the validity of those that may be observed,” said Chief Jimmy Dixon.
