Clemson issues statement on student’s death

Clemson University police responded to a call this morning regarding the death of a Clemson student, Michael Joseph Allen, an 18-year-old freshman pre-business major from Dunwoody, Georgia. SLED was called to campus and is continuing its investigation. At this time, foul play is not believed to be involved in the death, said Clemson University Police Chief Eric Hendricks. “There is no threat to the campus.” “Our hearts go out to the Allen family, friends and his fellow classmates. A death is always hard, for it impacts us all, but even more difficult at this time of year,” said Almeda Jacks, Clemson’s vice president for Student Affairs. “We send our thoughts and prayers out for the loss of this member of our Clemson family.
