Clemson to host 500 HS students for contest

Clemson University will host the 41st Annual Poetry Declamation Contest for high school students Saturday in Daniel Hall. The contest runs 10 a-m to noon. At 1:30 there is to be an awards ceremony. High school students from the Carolinas and Georgia compete in a poetry recitation in nine languages: American Sign Language, Chinese, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Latin, Russian and Spanish. This year, nearly 500 students from 34 high schools participate.
