College Application Month a success in Oconee

Typically the month of October is a time that school districts organize visits by colleges, help with applications, and encourage students to take advantage of the fee application waivers that some institutions offers at this time.  The school district is reporting numbers of students at the county’s four high schools who are interested in college.  West-Oak designated one week to focus its college preparation activities.  And by the end of that week, seniors had applied to more than 35 colleges—88 of them completed applications to Tri-County Tech and 20 to Clemson.  All 177 members of Seneca High’s senior class are said to have completed at least one application.  One Seneca student, Courtlin Lee, received an early acceptance to North Greenville College.  At Walhalla, 60 of the 218 seniors applied to 80 colleges.  At Tamassee-Salem, seventy applications were filled out by that school’s 41 seniors.
