Consent orders before DHEC board

Two area public entities have been named by state health authorities for violating effluent regulations.  In one instance, it involves pollutant discharge.  In the other, effluent limits.  Among consent orders in front of the board of the Department of Health and Environmental Control today are consent orders between DHEC staff and the City of Clemson and the state Department of Parks, Recreation and Tourism.  The state PRT is being ordered to submit a corrective plan and pay a $6 thousand fine for failing to meet the effluent limits for coli bacteria at its information center and rest area wastewater treatment facility on I-85 at Fair Play.  The Clemson issue involves a violation of discharge monitoring reports by its Cochran Road wastewater treatment facility.  In this instance, the consent order requires Clemson to make a corrective plan and pay a fine of $1,700 dollars.
