Councilmen donate their paychecks

The Walhalla mayor and council members are up to date on the project to establish a 9-11 memorial in Oconee County, on property next to the new Walhalla High School construction site. Brett McLaughlin and Jim Alexander of the 9-11 Memorial Committee, during a presentation last night, announced that there will be a ribbon-cutting September 11—to mark one year from the date of their hopes to dedicate the memorial which is to include remnants from all three locations attacked by planes hijacked by terrorists on September 11, 2001. After last night’s presentation, councilmen Josh Holliday and David Underwood were seen handing over their monthly city council checks as contributions to the fundraising for the project.
