Councilwoman casts not vote, but won’t say why

Westminster Councilwoman Susan Ramey last night voted against approval of the minutes of two November city council meetings, and she chose to give no explanation although pressed by Mayor Brian Ramey.  The mayor told the councilwoman that he and the other city officials needed to know if there was something incorrect in the minutes.  But Councilwoman Ramey held firm to her position that she would give no explanation, saying she believes it’s her right to cast a no vote without being required to explain why.  The meeting opened with some friction between the two when the mayor once again asked the councilwoman to address rumors that she intends to bring suit against him and other council members.  The councilwoman said they would be notified “when that decision is made.”  After last night’s meeting, the mayor indicated to 101.7/WGOG NEWS that she did not satisfactorily answer his question.
