County help for two existing employers

Oconee County is completing deals to lend a hand to two of the county’s employers, and the public will have a say beginning Tuesday next week. At its 6 o’clock Tuesday evening meeting at Pine Street, the council has scheduled hearings on an amended and re-stated fee-in-lieu of tax agreement with Borg Warner Torq Transfer Systems and a FILOT for “Project Mold.” Mold is believed to be ITECH South, an existing company inside the Oconee Commerce Park on s. highway 11. According to Oconee Economic Alliance, the project is to result in about 30 thousand square foot addition, a capital investment of $6 million, and 30-plus new jobs. The county promises a cost benefit analysis and economic development impact report at third and final reading.
