Cracks believed non-earthquake related

Several cracks have been found in a newly-built addition at West-Oak High School, but officials believe they are unrelated to last Friday night’s 4.1 earthquake. Richard Alexander, Oconee School District building official, said today, “We inspected the building with our project Manager and Superintendent from Trehel this past Tuesday. There are several settling/expansion cracks in the new wing but nothing of concern from a structural standpoint. This happens often in new construction and can usually be corrected with caulk and paint.”
