The topic of week in Oconee law enforcement was a topic today during Sheriff Mike Crenshaw’s annual report summarizing another year completed.  Oconeeans were still talking today about police chases, but the numbers show they occur rarely.  Crenshaw gave these statistics:  “The uniform patrol division involved in 13 vehicle pursuits in 2015 compared to 19 in 2014.  Two out of the thirteen pursuits were called off and the suspect was later arrested with a warrant.  Less than 1% of all of the vehicle stops made inn 2015 along with 2014 resulted in the driver refusing to stop.”  According to Crenshaw, of 1,770 vehicle 2015 stops, the drivers who failed to stop amounted to less than 1%.
