Three weeks before taking office, Oconee Sheriff-elect Mike Crenshaw has revealed his staff of command officers. Five of them were introduced during a meeting last night in South Union of the Voice of Southern Oconee. Appearing together were Chief Deputy Kevin Davis; Capt. Travis Tilson, 911 and communications director; Capt. Greg Reed, who will continue to head criminal investigations; Capt. Kenny Washington, who will head special operations, which includes drug enforcement; and Jeff Underwood, who will captain the road patrol. Crenshaw also said a fifth captain will supervise the jail. Last night’s meeting at the South Union Baptist Church allowed southern Oconee resident to dialogue with the sheriff-elect about their concerns over crime and their hopes that crime-fighting will improve once the sheriff’s department changes January 1.
