CU tuition increases

A three percent undergraduate tuition increase approved by Clemson University’s board of trustees yesterday will help pay for the cost of additional faculty members and enhancements in student engagement programs, technology and facilities. The increase amounts to $190 a semester for in-state students and $444 for out-of-state students. According to Clemson, the in-state and out-of-state increases combined represent the smallest percentage increase in 15 years. Clemson President Jim Barker said the additional faculty hires are aimed at maintaining an overall 18-to-one-student-to-faculty ratio. The board also approved an average three percent increase in campus housing and meal plans, which amounts to an average $68 a semester for housing and $46 a semester for meal plans.
