Damage suit against Oconee bumped from trial docket

A lawsuit seeking damages from Oconee County has been removed from the top spot for trial during this month’s term of the Common Pleas Court. The two-week Common Pleas schedule beginning Monday in Walhalla was to have started with Plateau Excavation versus Oconee County and others. But a spokeswoman for the court says not all the parties are ready to proceed and the case has been continued until a new date, not yet announced. Plateau Excavation is seeking $1.9 million from the county, to settle a dispute about a work stoppage during the project to extend the runway at the Oconee Regional Airport. In its place Monday, a foreclosure case has been substituted.
