Day one after Townville shootings

Law enforcement will have a presence this morning this morning at Oconee elementary schools, in the aftermath of the shootings yesterday at Anderson County’s Townville Elementary School, a short way from the Oconee line.  All Oconee schools went to a code yellow for safety precaution once the Townville incident became known.  Later a news conference was held as Anderson authorities pieced together what they believed happened in the Townville Elementary playground around 1:45 in the afternoon.  A teacher and two students were wounded.  The suspect was identified as a 14-year old boy.  A man was found shot to death away from the school property, and the Anderson County coroner said authorities believe the man was the father of the 14-year old suspect boy.  Governor Haley issued this statement:  “As we work together with law enforcement to make sure they have the support they need to investigate what happened in Townville. Michael (Haley’s husband) and I ask that everyone across South Carolina join us in praying for the entire Townville Elementary School family and those touched by (the) tragedy.”
