Deadline approaches for Seneca write-in candidates

An election official says a second deadline associated with Seneca’s 2016 election arrives tomorrow.  After tomorrow, the office of Oconee Registration and Elections will close the books on the opportunity for Seneca residents to run in their city’s March election as write-in candidates.  The ballot for the election was set earlier this month when incumbents only had qualified for re-election.  Unless a write-in emerges by tomorrow, Seneca’s March 8 election will be canceled and the mayoral and four council incumbents will automatically go back into office for new four-year terms.
