Defendant extradited to Oconee

A man arrested in Kentucky has been extradited to Oconee County to face multiple charges of child sex crimes.  A resident of the Bluegrass State, Daniel William McElreath was arrested in his home state July 12 but now is lodged in the Oconee Detention Center where, so far, he has been denied bond.  The Sheriff’s Office made this announcement:  “A deputy from the Uniform Patrol Division was contacted by phone during the evening hours of July 8th from a victim of a reported sexual assault who was interested in filing a report.  The victim told the deputy that the sexual abuse occurred during a time when the victim was 8 or 9 years old.  The abuse continued on different occasions until the year 2005, according to the victim and took place at multiple addresses, all of which were in the Westminster area.” According to investigators, the case involves one female victim. The 46-year old  McElreath was denied bond on all five charges, which include three counts of Criminal Sexual Conduct with a Minor – Victim Under the Age of Eleven – First Degree, one count of Criminal Sexual Conduct with a Minor – Victim between the Ages of 11 to 14 – Second Degree and one count of Disseminating Obscene Material to a Minor 12 years of age or younger.  The charges are all considered felonies and were obtained by Sgt. Tim Rice, Child/Elder Abuse investigator.
