Defendants want a dismissal

A proceeding is scheduled this month to hear motions in the controversial legal claim for back taxes allegedly owed for a privately-owned airplane kept at the Oconee Regional Airport. The attorney for the defendants will ask Judge Lawton McIntosh to dismiss the claim filed for Oconee County in the amount of more than $300 thousand in property taxes. Attorney Lane Davis, on behalf of Hangar III LLC, Jerry Edwards, and Steve Edwards, also intends to make a second motion, a motion to strike which, in legal parlance, means to eliminate all or a portion of a pending complaint. The motions are to be heard 9:30 Tuesday morning, January 27 at the Oconee Courthouse.
