Delay in start of industry’s expansion

A delay in the timing of a tax credit agreement pushes back the start of the expansion for Greenfield Industries in Oconee County. The drill bits and tool-cutting operation now targets late July for the start of new buildings on the grounds of the plant along highway 123. “They’re asking that we extend the timeframe regarding the incentive documents so that way they can take advantage of full benefit of those documents without running into the time constraints before completing the entire investment,” County Administrator Scott Moulder told the Oconee County council last night. The work to begin on the grounds of Greenfield will incorporate an expansion of the existing plant, the construction of a recycling center and the establishment of China’s TDC Cutting tools overseas headquarters. Thirty-eight jobs are to be created.
