Deliberations on 320 Shiloh Road

A large building suited for manufacturing at the edge of Seneca’s corporate limits but owned by the city is being recommended for annexation to the city. The Seneca Planning Commission last night agreed to ask the city council to incorporate the former Pro Pex building at 320 Shiloh Road. The commissioners also agreed to recommend a business industrial zoning classification for the property. The council will be asked to act at its November meeting. Ed Halbig, planning and community development director, presented the application on behalf of the Seneca Facilities Corporation. Parts of the building are now being used for warehousing and lab space. The city and Oconee County, which owns adjoining undeveloped property, are pursuing an industrial park at the location. Halbig told the commissioners they soon can expect Oconee County to make a formal request to annex its property, in excess of 100 acres, and request that it be given a business industrial zoning classification.
