Democrats choose Congressional nominee

Two Oconeeans contested yesterday to be the Democratic nominee to run this fall for Congress. County Democratic voters preferred Barbara Jo Mullis over Hosea Cleveland. Mullis received 447 votes; Cleveland, 226. Returns from across the Third District last night showed Mullis comfortably ahead of her opponent. As her party’s nominee, she can look forward to November and a contest with the incumbent, Jeff Duncan, who was unopposed in yesterday’s Republican primary.
