Demolition of old house approved

The current owner of a Seneca house that dates back to the late 1800s will be permitted to demolish the structure, but a city regulatory board will require an area sought for parking to be left as green space. The Board of Architectural Review Tuesday night approved a certificate of appropriateness for the Seneca Presbyterian Church for the demolition project at 109 S. Oak Street. The vote was 2-1, with chairperson Kelly Staggs breaking the tie. According to city planner Tamy Sanford, the conditions of the certificate requires applicant to make arrangements for two trees on the property to receive professional treatment. One is a pecan tree; the other, a pine oak.
