Dentist lawsuit against hospital

A lawsuit has been filed for an Oconee County dentist against the local hospital and two of its officials. At the heart of the suit is a dental clinic that the hospital created in 2013 to serve indigent patients. The plaintiff dentist, Dr. Robert Strum, served as clinic director until, according to the claim filed by Walhalla attorney Larry Brandt, Strum was fired by Heather Goss, the clinic’s executive director, when he balked at extracting the teeth of two patients, in part, because he did not believe the clinic was equipped adequately. Besides Goss, the lawsuit names as defendants, the Greenville Hospital System, successor to Oconee Medical Center, and Jeanne Ward, the OMC president/CEO. It seeks a jury trial and requests actual and punitive damages of an unspecified amount.
