Deputies “wearing” new technology

May 22, 2013

Oconee deputies have begun wearing new technology. The result is that you will be watched more closely. Called AXON Flex and made by TASER International, on-officer video cameras are clipped to an officer’s clothing or worn on a special set of glasses made by Oakley Inc. Once a deputy is sent to the scene of a call, he or she can press a button on a unit that’ll record every aspect of the call. The video evidence will belong to the Sheriff’s office. It gives the person watching the video the point of view from the perspective of the deputies.
