Deputy and suspect scuffle at burglary scene

A 20-year old Oconee County man has been arrested as the result of a weekend incident at a south highway 11 home in which an alleged burglary occurred and deputies were forced to separate the suspect from two people who are believed to be victims.  Deputies went to the home during the 5 o’clock hour Sunday morning and investigated an incident in which a man got into the house through a window, assaulted a female, hid inside a closet and then assaulted a male occupant.  The Sheriff’s Office released this statement on the arrest of Foxwood Hills resident Bradley Thomas Barnett:  “While being taken to a patrol vehicle to be transported to the Detention Center, Bradley began to resist and while the deputy was attempting to regain control, both Bradley and the deputy fell to the ground….Bradley and the deputy both sustained non-life threatening injuries and both were transported to the Oconee Memorial Hospital….”  Authorities list the following charges against the man arrested:  assault/battery high and aggravated nature, malicious injury to personal property, assault and battery third degree, burglary first degree, and assault on police officer while resisting arrest.
